What I Do & Why

2020 was when I realized that all the varied things I seek to do are one project, and that is sincere, caring communication of feelings for the purpose of improving mental health. I now intensively integrate writing and talking into my output as an artist. It is all the same identity.

There is great power in the clarity of seeing, feeling, and believing one's purpose. The great challenge is how to "monetize" sincerity! If you think about it for even a second a multitude of hurdles will come to mind. None of those negatives deserve to be mentioned here. I promise to work hard on my mission for as long as I can afford to do so.

How to Support Rob

Encouragement helps me so much. If you believe there is value in what I am doing, there are many ways you can help, first and foremost being expressions of love, care, and encouragement. 😍 Thank you, truly, to all who take the time to reach out.
Recommend, Share, Like what I do to help it reach those who may appreciate it.
Supply an item from My Wishlist.
Purchase a large painting that you see on this website. Here is a great place to start browsing. Reach out to me using contact info at the bottom of this page. Credit Card payments are secure and easy using Square.
Purchase small paintings that fit in the mail, for yourself or to send as a gift, at the RMiddleton.art Online Shop.
Visit my Etsy for an always-changing variety of items that take my original abstract designs into new areas.
One-time donations can be made using Cash App, Venmo, or Credit Card.
Become a Patron by committing to a monthly donation of any amount using Patreon or Square (lower fees). Recurring Patrons receive actual postal mail many times a year with art and surprises. There are no membership tiers with varied benefits, for two good reasons. One, processing companies charge higher fees to activate that feature, a waste of your money. Two, I think everyone who gives any amount deserves my gratitude (and rewards), so I am less comfortable coaxing higher donations by offering hidden benefits behind a paywall. Anything I post first on Patreon should make it to my blog ROBBLOG soon enough. YES! I have a blog. There's SO MUCH there already and TONS to come! 🙃

About the Artist

Rob Middleton began a lifelong commitment to abstract expressionist painting while a psychology major at Princeton University. In the over 20 years since then Middleton has utilized a multitude of techniques and materials all in the service of producing abstraction with minimal pattern. One intention of this style of art is to encourage the mind to rest and experience a free flow of thoughts and emotions unconstrained by objective reality. Viewers are free to find their own meaning in a Middleton painting, or no meaning at all. Works are rarely given titles that themselves impose an order or meaning onto the painting. For similar reasons, Middleton avoids the imposition of a signature beyond marking his works with only an iconic R.

Middleton has displayed his art in Jacksonville, Atlanta, Miami, Princeton, NJ, and Hattiesburg, MS. His work hangs in over 50 private collections in the U.S. and Europe, including the renowned collection of Preston H. Haskell, III.
